Job Summary

Create and sustain access to libraries’ resources; build and manage the student worker team in Public Services (Circulation).

Responsibilities

1. Student Management and Supervision – 50%

  • Manage, supervise, and mentor a team of student public services assistants for BUL circulation services.
  • Oversee the hiring process, design and implement training, create work schedules, provide advising, and conduct performance evaluations.

2. Service Provision and Policy Management – 25%

  • Ensure sustainable service provision regarding circulation and resource sharing issues, including crafting and evaluating policies for missing items, billing, reconciliation, etc.
  • Develop uniform strategies and procedures for problem resolution across circulation services.
  • Create and implement the library’s reserve collections.

3. Technology and Media Equipment Management – 10%

  • Develop, maintain, and deploy technology and media equipment, including purchasing, cataloging, packaging, and troubleshooting.
  • Establish usage policies and communicate with departments regarding equipment needs and updates.

4. Collaborative Liaison with Library Departments – 10%

  • Liaise with other library departments on collaborative projects, such as library systems, strategic planning, and marketing.

Experience

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

Education

● Required Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Additional Information

Travel: This position requires little to no travel.


Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop
and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Expected Hours of Work:
Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
