Job Summary

Ensures the accurate and consistent coding and integrity of all approved University curriculum as it appears in student information systems, the University catalogs and website. Assesses students for graduations and degree completion and awards all University degrees. Represents the Registrar’s Office in facilitating and implementing related strategic initiatives University partners and patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Will be ultimately responsible for the accurate and efficient coding of degree evaluations, including individual waivers, and substitutions unrelated to transcript evaluation.
  • Monitors and resolves potential CPoS issues.
  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders and Department Chairs to ensure that student records are updated in a timely manner and that all curriculum in University systems have appropriate approvals and have been applied according to official processes and procedures.
  • Awards degrees on a monthly basis and at the end of each term.
  • Processes graduation applications, degree evaluation for graduation, and unresolved graduation completion plans.

  • Collaborates with Registrar’s Office Staff and other university stakeholders on initiatives to fully utilize Degree Works degree evaluation software, including student education planners.
  • Assists with catalog and website curriculum review for the University in order to ensure consistency between Degree Works, the catalog and the University and Registrar’s Office websites.
  • Serves on related committees.
  • Backup to Associate Registrar for Technology and Systems, the Records and Data Specialist, and other Registrar Staff as needed and upon request.
  • Other tasks as assigned as needed and upon request.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge and expertise with relational databases and student information systems such as Banner and Degree Works preferred.
  • Possesses a high-level ability to learn, explain, trouble-shoot and improve upon logical constructs and programming-related syntax.
  • Detail-oriented, observant, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Actively uses critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate individual requests, use appropriate independent judgment, and accurately and consistently apply policy and process.
  • Must be able to teach others how to handle sensitive, confidential information in a mature, professional manner and be well-versed in FERPA.
  • Proven self-starter and content to work independently for the majority of the time.
  • Eager to contribute as a vital member of the team, with a strong value of collective success as a department.
  • Graciously serve patrons (faculty, alumni, students, advisors, administrators, staff and outside parties) through positive and effective interactions; providing accurate information via a variety of communication methods (phone, email, face to face), as needed.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience

Required:

  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in a registrar’s office, IT office in higher education or a related office.

Education

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work alone in a sitting or standing position at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
