    40 hours/10 months per year (Aug 15 - June 15)
    20 hours/2 months per year (June 16 - August 14)


    This position is essential in ensuring the Business and Economics department meets student needs effectively and efficiently. Serves as the point person for the department with internal and external contacts including advising freshman, supervising student employees, coordinating connection with prospective students, and serving as being the first contact for many student questions. Balances the requests and needs of the Department Chair, faculty, student leaders, TA’s, and students on an ongoing basis.


    Assist the Department Chair in a variety of duties including:


    • Development of faculty course loads
    • Input faculty teaching schedules into the online program.
    • Track classroom requests and corrections.
    • Data reporting – request, track, and put into readable format data reports.
    • Assist with ACBSP accreditation including reports, responses, tracking data, and site visits.
    • Proof catalog changes each year,

    Coordinate student advising and serve as a student advisor:

    • Serve as academic adviser for first-year students including advising and seminars.
    • Coordinate and track internal communication regarding prospective and accepted transfer students. This includes communication regarding potential transfer course work.
    • In conjunction with the department chair, represent the business department to prospective and accepted students during the summer
    • Assign and re-assign current students to advisors.
    • Coordinate advising and vocation events.
    • Manage and mentor student workers, assisting in recruitment as needed.

    Coordinate external and internal communication, including management of special events:

    • Facilitate communication with department alumni.
    • Coordinator the department website and department Moodle page.
    • Coordinates contact for inquiries to the department from prospective students, including transfer students, Department of Admissions, and Registrar’s Office.
    • Manage the department calendar of meetings and events.
    • Oversee the welcome week activities for the department and students.
    • Assist in planning, preparing and executing special events including guest speakers, graduation, alumni, homecoming, employers and etc.


    Oversee management of general department needs including, but not limited to the following areas:

    • Train adjuncts on administrative tasks, and assign work space
    • Participate in department meetings as requested, including responsibilities for agendas and minutes as needed.
    • Complete and submit expense reports for the department.

    Required Skills

    • Ability to anticipate and solve problems with little direction.
    • Self-directed, able to work independently, yet function well as a member of a larger team.
    • Strong communication skills in verbal and written contexts.
    • Able to organize, complete, and manage multiple priorities in a timely and effective manner.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required.
    • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn and adopt new technology.

    Required Experience

    3-5 years of office/business experience. Experience in a collegiate environment interacting with student population preferred.

    Required Education

    Bachelor’s degree

    Additional Information

    Able to work in an office setting with multiple distractions and interruptions. Must be able to work in a sitting position at a computer for extended periods of time.
