  • Job Summary

    As a member of the Planned Giving Development team, this position contributes to the marketing, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of planned gifts to increase both the quantity and size of estate, life-income, and other planned gifts in support of Bethel University’s mission. In a highly collaborative environment, this individual will be expected to coordinate efforts with other Development officers, particularly the Major Giving staff, and The Bethel University Foundation staff. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Planned Giving.


    • Build & maintain a portfolio of approximately 125 planned giving prospects
    • Assist Major Gift Officers in identifying planned gift prospects, offering planned giving solutions, and presenting planned giving proposals
    • Prepare planned gift solutions using proprietary software
    • Assist in planning and implementing planned giving marketing efforts
    • Serve as donor liaison to the Bethel Fund director and the Bethel Foundation executive director

    Required Skills

    • The Planned Giving Officer should have excellent writing, research and presentation skills and demonstrate intermediate level experience using Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Google docs, as well as Crescendo Interactive software.
    • Having excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels, is desired.

    Required Experience

    Prior planned giving fund raising experience or a background in legal, financial services, or financial estate planning is also preferred.

    Required Education

    A bachelor’s degree is required and an advanced degree is preferred.

    Additional Information

    • The incumbent is expected to meet personally with donors for purposes of cultivation and stewardship; the position requires occasional travel as well as hosting donors and events both at Bethel University and in various other locations as appropriate. Some evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Familiarity with and appreciation for Christian higher education generally, and Bethel University specifically is desired.
