  • Job Summary

    Responsible for developing and leading Student Life’s leadership program.  Plans, implements, and oversees all leadership initiatives and programs.    

    Responsibilities

    • Provides leadership to all CAS Student Leadership initiatives within Student Life. This includes the Student Leadership Retreat, and on-going programs for student leaders. Establishes and maintains key partnerships both internally and externally to the university. Investigates ways the University can broaden our leadership initiatives (grants, assistantships, etc).
    • Assists with the hiring and training of student leader positions, working to streamline processes of the hiring of student leader positions.
    • In concert with the Associate Dean for Campus Engagement ensure leadership groups such as BSG, Residence Life and Welcome Week have a coordinated and cohesive approach to leadership.
    • Develops, conducts, and analyzes the evaluations and assessments within the office of Student Life. Provides consultation to Student Life staff on the development of smaller scale evaluations and assessments.
    • Execute, plan and coordinate Bethel’s Leadership Summit in collaboration with departments across the university. Promote and publicize the marketing and branding of the event.
    • Share responsibilities with Student Life deans for discipline, mentoring, and assisting students with personal and educational related issues (Student Care & Concern team). This includes on-going follow-up if needed.
    • Collaborates with the Dean of Student Programs to engage upper-level commuter students. Assists commuter life assistants in executing and promoting events that engage students in learning about community citizenship, spiritual growth, and positive social engagement. Engages student-athletes who reside off campus to offer academic and social support as well as educational resources related to healthy living and decision making.
    • Meets with supervisor for evaluation, support, and goal setting. Participate as a Dean’s Council member. Attends and participates in various student life meetings. Builds relationships with students by attending events and spending time with them.

    • Demonstrated capacity to work with students individually and in group settings.

    Required Experience

    2+ years of experience in the field of college student development required. Experience with leadership programs preferred.

    Required Education

    Master’s degree in student affairs, college student personnel, counseling, or related field required.

    Additional Information

    Able to sit for extended periods of time in individual and group meetings.
    40 hours per week; 12 months per year. Flexibility in working nights and weekends is required.
