  • Job Summary

    To lead the Media Design team successfully and effectively in planning, implementing, and assessing processes designed to support academic programs for the entire university.


    • Lead, develop, and manage the Media Design team and its resources. This includes, but is not limited to, facilitation of team meetings and other internal communication processes, active development of the team’s skill-set and expertise, oversight of the team’s budget, administration of annual reviews, development and management of job descriptions, and development and implementation of the team’s strategic agenda.
    • Provide media design services to the University, especially for distance/online learning. This includes, but is not limited to, consulting with faculty as they design their own media, directly designing media, and developing and maintaining standards for media design.
    • Provide expertise to the TLT team for media design. This includes, but is not limited to, developing training and reference documentation, cross-training other members of the TLT team, and evaluating media design hardware and software tools.

    Required Skills

    Must demonstrate expertise related to software (e.g., Adobe Premier, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Photoshop, Pro Tools, etc.) and equipment (e.g., cameras, microphones, lights, etc.) used to create, edit, and deploy images, audio, and video.

    Must demonstrate aesthetic awareness when designing images, audio, and video.

    Must demonstrate capacity to design media collaboratively with content experts, including conceptualization, direction and production.

    Must demonstrate informed use of media and technology to facilitate teaching and learning.

    Must demonstrate ability to provide both strategic and managerial leadership to a professional media design team.

    Must demonstrate an understanding of current issues in higher education.

    Required Experience

    3+ years of professional experience in media design, instructional technology, distance education, or a related field is required.

    Experience leading teams is preferred.

    Formal teaching experience is preferred.

    Required Education

    Bachelor’s degree required.

    Master’s degree or equivalent post-baccalaureate education/experience in media design, instructional technology, distance education, or a related field is preferred.

    Additional Information

    Must be able to work in a sitting job at a computer for extended periods of time.

    1.00 FTE/12 months; may require some evening and weekend work.
