  • Job Summary

    Provide Anderson Center with mailroom functions as well as the primary switchboard operator for Bethel University.


    • Sort, collate and distribute all incoming mail for the Anderson Center and courier into bundles for scanning or delivery to agreed drop off points. Ensure that high priority incoming and outgoing mail is processed. Collect all outgoing mail from mail points of collection, and collate and mail for collection by agreed deadline. 
    • Answer switchboard and maintain university greeting. 
    • Serves as primary back-up to the Anderson Center reception area. 
    • Schedule Anderson Center conference rooms and process work requests for the Safety and Security department and Anderson Center. 

    Required Skills

    • Must be able to answer and redirect calls on a switchboard.
    • Must have the ability to work in a face-paced environment and sort large volumes of mail.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
    • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to solve problems independently.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience with photocopying, faxing and filing.
    • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential items of mail in accordance with the code of conduct.
    • Ability to deal with customers in a polite and diplomatic manner.


    Required Experience

    One year of switchboard, mailroom, and/or customer service experience.

    Required Education

    High School diploma or equivalent required.

    Additional Information

    • This position will is 50% sedentary and 50% non-sedentary (active work).
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    • Works with staff, students and tenants.
    • This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, 12 month, nonexempt position.
