Job Summary

Responsible for the financial aid offices portion of administrating military education benefits, included but not limited to Veteran’s Affairs (VA) and Tuition Assistance. Assists in the preparation and revision of financial aid awards, and provides financial aid counseling for students and their families.


  • Prepares financial aid awards, revisions and appeals 
  • Provides specialized customer service to students and their families, includes appointments, phone contact and email. 
  • Works closely with business and registrar’s office to ensure student’s financial records are accurate. Helps resolve problems regarding eligibility and payment of military education benefits, processes information VA system. [NOTE – currently performed by business office] 
  • Maintain knowledge of military programs; keeps current on rules and benefits through various communication and training opportunities; provide training to campus staff. 
  • Provide training to various campus departments (admissions, marketing,etc) to align with military compliance and regulations. 

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of military educational policies and procedures preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form to both individuals and groups. 
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to plan and manage multiple projects
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. 
  • Working knowledge of Banner software (preferred).
  • Detail-oriented, but able to see the whole picture and apply regulations to individual situations. 
  • Proven ability to work independently and work with confidential information.


Required Experience

Experience working with military educational benefits strongly preferred. Military background preferred, experience working in higher education

Required Education

Baccalaureate Degree in Business, Education or related field.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work in a sitting position at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Works 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Hours may vary between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, with some evening or weekend hours.
  • Occasional travel to training and conferences.
  • Must not be in default on any Title IV loans.
