Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating services for students, staff and guests with disabilities in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.


  • Coordinate services and responsible academic accommodations for students with disabilities, including alternate text request, notetaking, contacting publishers for text, hiring sign language interpreters and managing assistive technology.
  • Organize and manage the day-to-day office activities to assure efficient and effective services are provided, including: coordinating communications; maintaining Director & Disability Specialist calendars, scheduling appointments, maintaining office budget, managing invoices, manage the disability-email and phone number, ordering equipment and supplies, monitoring expenses, processing Disability services registration paperwork and securing student files and records. Serve as a backup staff person for the Student Life front desk, provide front desk services.
  • Collect and maintain institutional data for reports and management information including Disability Resources and Services website, Accommodate, One Note and Banner portal site.
  • Hire, train and supervise student workers to convert text books to an alternate format, manage note taking student workers, create and organize student documentation both in paper and electronically.
  • Advise and support the Disability Awareness Group (DAG).

Required Skills

  • Individual must be detail oriented with demonstrated organizational and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote, Google Docs and Outlook. 
  • Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities.
  • Demonstrated competency, sensitivity, and experience working with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, academic, and cultural backgrounds. 
  • Individual is expected to interact in a professional and confidential manner, possess effective problem solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as a part of a team

Required Experience

2 plus years of related experience

Required Education

Post high school training required; Associate's Degree or a Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Additional Information

Must be able to work in a sitting position at a computer for extended periods of time.
37 hours week/10 months (August 1-May 31); 10 hours week/June; off in July.
