Design and build and /or pull costumes for a four-production year that includes shows in October, January, February, and April. Maintain facilities and equipment in the costume room.
Ability to design, build and/or pull costumes for four productions in a variety of theatrical genres.
Ability to fit costumes (student costume assistants available)
Ability to collaborate with other members of the department and work with students on building/adapting costumes.
Ability to create costume renderings and collaborate with the production director
Ability to use slopers to create patterns
Knowledge of a large variety of theatrical styles.
Knowledge of various types of sewing machines.
Interest in working with undergraduate theatre artists

Minimum of 2 years experience as a costume designer and building costumes from a large variety of theatrical genres required; experience in professional and academic theatre preferred.
B.A. in Theatre, required; M.A. or M.F.A. preferred
Must be able to work in both a sitting and standing position.
Must be able to lift costumes, and move them from storage to the costume shop, and bring them to the dry cleaners.
Must be able to climb a ladder to access costumes.
Must be available to attend production meetings and tech rehearsals.
The position offers a $2,000 stipend per production.
