Job Summary

Responsible for relationship management with prospective and current investors in Bethel University capable of making major gifts to the University, including management of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with an emphasis in the Athletic Programs.


  • Cultivation of relationships and solicitation of gifts from investors capable of making a major gift to Bethel University with an emphasis on Bethel’s Athletic programs 
  • Managing and developing the Royal Athletic Association program including event management and Golf Tournament. Develop and manage corporate partnership and sponsors 
  • Work with AVP of Development to develop an annual funding strategy. Work with Athletic Director and coaches to determine needs. Serve as Liaison between Athletic Department and University Advancement, attending Advancement Staff Meetings 
  • Sports Information Management. Provide leadership and supervision to Sports Information Director (Under direction of Athletic Director)
  • Oversight of athletic branding and graphics (Under direction of Athletic Director)
  • Assist in planning and implementation of development related events 

Required Skills


  • Demonstrated ability to solicit and secure leadership gifts. Demonstrate the knowledge, ability and personality necessary to convey to alumni, friends, corporations, foundations and other contributors the need, propriety and benefit of charitable investment in institutions of higher education
  • Ability to maintain timely and complete record of activities, results, and planned follow up to discussions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop social relationships based upon common purpose
  • Ability to work independently to plan activities and manage schedule to attain goal results
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, confidential information professionally
  • Ability to work with peers and others to collaborate in accomplishment of team goals
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Sports Information

  • Knowledge of a variety of sports
  • Experience with sports statistics software (i.e. StatCrew)
  • Preferred experience with: InDesign, Adobe, website management, photography experience, play by play or public address experience and video experience.

Required Experience

Minimum of 2 years development or related experience; 3 years of Progressive experience in the area of sports information.

Bachelor’s Degree

  • Various on-campus game locations, including indoor and outdoor events
  • Hours vary and include nights and weekends as needed.
  • Full time exempt position sometimes requiring extended hours
  • Out of town travel approximately 10% of time
