Job Summary

Work collaboratively within the marketing and communications team to provide useful and compelling content that supports Bethel’s brand and recruitment, retention, and fundraising goals.


  • Develop original content for the web, printed materials and advertising in support of Bethel’s brand and marketing strategies.
  • Write, edit and proofread content for other marketing and communications projects as needed.
  • Consult with offices and departments to address questions as they arise.
  • Monitor content success and research new strategies for content production. 
  • Manage complex web projects.

Required Skills

  • Ability to write compelling headlines and copy that supports the University’s brand. 
  • Strong understanding of writing mechanics, styles, and grammar.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to conceptualize and recommend new creative strategies for producing content.
  • Ability to collaborate across offices and departments to discover and respond to clients’ needs. 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
  • Basic understanding of copywriting, news and feature writing, writing for the web, and AP style.
  • Must be willing and able to give and receive constructive feedback.

Required Experience

1+ years of experience writing, editing, or managing promotional content.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in communication studies, English, journalism, or related field.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • This is a 1.0 FTE, 12 month position. Possible evening and weekend support.
