Job Summary

Application review will begin Monday, January 15, 2018.

 

Responsible for development, implementation and oversight of new student orientation (CAS) including budget, staff selection and training. Advises student organizations. Works with the dean of student programs and the student life team in the implementation of student development programs, discipline, mentoring, and assisting students with personal and education related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Directs planning, development, budgeting, implementation, and assessment of new student orientation programs. Coordinates with appropriate departments in University to implement orientation programs and services for all constituencies. Provides training, oversight, and mentoring for student leadership team as well as 80+ student leaders. Coordinates and collaborates with Admissions planning and implementation of Preview Days.
  • Assist in oversight of student organizations, specifically providing supervision for all of student programs. Supervises the director of student activities and campus engagement and the Brushaber Commons program coordinator.
  • Share responsibilities with Student Life deans for discipline, mentoring, and assisting students with personal and education related issues. Participates in student care and concerns processes, and assists the Dean of Student Programs.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of leadership programs for student leaders including the monthly leadership gatherings and the annual student leadership retreat.
  • Co-Advise the campus newspaper by taking administrative and budgetary responsibility and serving as the supervisor of record for all students receiving Clarion stipends; provide training and supervision to Clarion Business and Advertising Manager and Sales Representatives; work with local businesses to develop advertising relationships for the Clarion.
  • Contributes to overall strategic direction of the division of Student Development in relation to student programing. Shares responsibility with Student Life team for educational programming, and student leadership development.
  • Performs essential administrative tasks: documentation, accurate record keeping, confidentiality, writing annual goals and reports, and completion of OIS reference forms, stop-out and withdrawal processes.
  • Represents Student Life and participates in the life of the Bethel community by serving on various committees.

Required Skills

Proficiency in word processing and budget management.
Willingness to obtain technical training for the use of early alert software programs

Required Experience

3+ years of experience in the field of college student development is required. Experience in new student orientation, student government, and judicial processes preferred.

Required Education

Master’s degree required; degree in Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Leadership, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

Additional Information

Able to sit for extended periods of time in individual and group meetings
12 month, 1.00 FTE position. Flexibility in working nights and weekends (monthly) on occasion is required. Position collaborates with Conference and Event Services to follow the student life event model process for department events.
