Job Summary

Assist in developing and implementing a high quality child care program for infants, ages 6 weeks through 16 months old.  Assist in overseeing the development of the whole child while maintaining a nurturing and safe environment.  Provide direct service to infants and their families.


  • Assistant infant classroom teacher- Assume assistant responsibility for meeting the needs of each infant enrolled and maintaining open communication with parents. Assist in conducting assessments and parent conferences, keep student files up to date and write daily notes. Keep infants safe at all times.
  • Room set up; curriculum development; parent communication

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. 
  • Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
  • Ability to instruct and successfully interact with infants and young children.
  • Knowledge of child cognitive, social, and skills development methods and techniques. 
  • Ability to plan, develop, and implement development activities and programs for children. 
  • Knowledge of child supervision skills, development theory and practice. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and colleagues in a diverse community. 
  • Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
  • Knowledge of the application, safe usage, and maintenance requirements of relevant facilities and equipment. 
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to manage and provide for the health, nutrition, and hygiene requirements of infants and young children. Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and standards. 
  • Able to support Bethel University’s statement of Christian faith and share that faith and knowledge with students and clients.

Required Experience

Two years’ experience directly working with children.

Required Education

Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.


Additional Information

CPR and First Aid Certification required within 60 days of date of hire.


This position participates in all staff meetings and retreats, maintains membership in and attends meetings and conferences of professional organizations appropriate for Early Childhood Education. There will be occasional evening commitments.
