Job Summary

Responsible for managing the Act Six scholarship program and assisting with creating training and development opportunities for members at Bethel and the local community towards intercultural competency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Act Six program, including phases of selection of scholars in conjunction with community affiliate Urban Ventures. Includes enhanced leadership development and academic success of student scholars from diverse backgrounds through a cadre model, execute curriculum for the scholars, and provide holistic support. 
  • Assist with programming for faculty and staff development, such as Shalom Seminars, Cultural Intelligence, and Intergroup Dialogue. Coordinate diversity and inclusion-related events. Serve on the Advisory Committee on Diversity and Rapid Response Team. 

Required Skills

  • Knowledge base of student development theory, racial identity theory, and experiences of students of color in a predominately white institution
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a professional and confidential manner with staff, students, parents, and public
  • Exhibited initiative and the ability to work independently, or in partnership
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to articulate a Biblical theology of diversity
  • Knowledge of Christian college context preferred

Required Experience

2+ years’ experience in mentoring, program coordination with diverse populations is required; experience in an education setting preferred.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree required in Reconciliation, Sociology, Education, Christian Ministry, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Additional Information

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in individual and group meetings. Occasional driving required.
  • 1.0 FTE, 12 month per year position. Regular evening and weekend availability is required.
