Job Summary

Immediate Opening for a Live-In Position.


Responsible for supervising and supporting the RD staff, their duties and the residents in their areas.  Foster a positive, safe and educational residential environment for all students by facilitating community, offering direction to programming, and journeying with students through crisis, community standard infractions and personal and spiritual development.


  • Supervises four resident director staff. This includes selection, training, evaluation, and oversight of professional development. Plans, initiates, and conducts weekly staff meetings to cover announcements, business, area issues, and staff development with resident directors. Supports resident director staff in managing residences. 
  • Counsels/advises students in all areas of student life including lifestyle choices and campus community expectations. Disciplines and confronts students for violations of policy and unhealthy living patterns. This includes on-going follow-up if needed. Mentors, counsels, and refers students as appropriate. Provide on-call support for residence life staff on-campus. Handles emergency situations and other counseling issues in conjunction. 
  • Oversee the process of recruitment, interviewing, evaluating, and selection of the new resident assistants and assistant resident director each year. 
  • Oversee the process of RA staff training sessions to include spring, fall, and monthly staff training. Supervise summer housing program which includes coordinating administrative duties with check-in and check-out of students; supervise student staff, and on-call responsibilities for summer housing. 
  • Meets with associate dean for residence life for evaluation, support, and goal setting. Attends and participates in various residence life meetings. 
  • Develops relationships with students in the residence by attending residence events, and spending time with students. Assesses needs, plans, and implements educational programs to address needs in the residence area.

Required Experience

2+ years of experience in functional area required; Experience in the field of college student development preferred; Two to three years in residence life is preferred.

Required Education

Master's required; Master’s degree in student affairs, college student personnel, counseling, or related field preferred.


Additional Information

Able to sit for extended periods of time in individual and group meetings.
Live in position.
This is a 1.00 FTE, 12 month position.
Remuneration includes salary and housing.
