Job Summary

To be the primary security shift supervisor and carry out the day-to-day patrolling and emergency response for the Security and Safety branch

Responsibilities

  • Supervise student security staff
  • Patrol campus grounds and buildings
  • Provides initial response and coordination for all emergencies on campus
  • Reports on any security and safety observations or incidents
  • Interacts with community members on incidents, concerns, complaints or other questions they may have
  • Tickets vehicles parked or operated in violation of our regulations
  • Ensures good working relationships with student life, RCSD, LJFD and Allina Medical through active engagement
  • Is on call to cover other staff officer shifts when needed

Required Skills

  • A working knowledge of security software and the ability to learn new systems is required, including video surveillance, access control and portable radio use. 
  • Ability to use self-defense tactics is required.

Required Experience

1+ years of experience of related experience required; experience in higher education preferred. First responder certification is preferred

Required Education

Requires completion of a high school degree or equivalent. A related associates degree is preferred

Additional Information

  • Must be willing to work evenings and some weekends 
  • This is a 32-hour per week, 12 month position
  • Requires working in a guard station and patrolling in a vehicle or on foot.
  • Must be able to work to work in a sitting position at a computer or in a vehicle for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work outside in extreme and varied weather.
  • Shift work is required in addition to serving periodic on call and may require working nights and weekends
