  • Job Summary

    Responsible for managing the Cultural Connection Center to support retention and student success of multicultural students as well as foster and nurture holistic, integrated, cross-cultural community life at Bethel University.


    • Manage the Cultural Connect Center (CCC): Hire, supervise and provide training of student leaders. Execute administrative duties including, but not limited to advising and delegating the planning of events, preparing weekly e-announcements, maitaining the physical space, and completing performance reviews.
    • Identify and collaborate with campus partners to provide programming in the CCC; build relationships with students who utilize the CCC and create an atmosphere which promotes education and healthy dialogue regarding diversity.
    • Assist Associate Dean with development of curriculum for Intercultural Programs and other administrative duites. Represent the deparmtnet by serving on various committees and participating in the life of Bethel.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge base of student development theory, racial identity theory, and experiences of students of color in a predominately white institution
    • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage and supervise student staff
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work in a professional and confidential manner with staff, students, parents, and public
    • Exhibited initiative and the ability to work independently, or in partnership
    • Detail-oriented with demonstrated problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to articulate a Biblical theology of diversity
    • Knowledge of Christian college context preferred

    Required Experience

    2+ years’ experience in mentoring, program coordination with diverse populations is required; experience in an education setting preferred.

    Required Education

    Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Degree in Reconciliation, Sociology, Education, Christian Ministry, or a related field.

    Additional Information

    • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in individual and group meetings. Occasional driving required.
    • 40 hour a week/10 month position (August 1- May 31). Regular evening and weekend availability is required.
