Job Summary

Responsible for the strategic management and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program, securing increasing levels of annual and participation of recurring gifts from staff, parents, friends, and alumni

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, implement and direct a compelling, robust, year-round acquisition and cultivation strategy that incorporates best practices and creative communications to increase giving and participation in the Bethel Fund from alumni, parents, staff, and friends
  • Work collaboratively with the alumni engagement team, Development Facilitator and UR Services team to develop a written master plan and calendar for all phases of annual giving, including direct mail, online giving, telemarketing, class giving, student giving and alumni giving
  • Work with internal and external constituents to build consensus and educate on Bethel Fund initiatives. Work collaboratively with constituent relations team to establish a Bethel Fund advisory committee to expand the reach of the program using volunteers. Develop and implement plan to identify BF donors with major gift potential to transition to development officers
  • Develop and supervise the phonathon team leads and program toward the growth of the BF donor base in size and participation
  • Conduct regular, thorough assessment of Bethel Fund performance through detailed analysis to assess and enhance program effectiveness, giving patterns, and potential donor segmenting. Provide regular program updates to executive leadership
  • Research and incorporate ongoing BF “best practices” and develop new and creative strategies to increase support
  • Explore creating a BF advisory committee to expand the reach of the program by using volunteers

Required Skills

  • Experienced with data base segmentation and a keen understanding and ability to market the BF to different audiences.
  • Knowledgeable (able to learn) with online fundraising including marketing through social media
  • Ability to recognize among annual fund donors the potential for significant major and planned gifts.
  • Experienced in identifying, recruiting, training and supervising staff and potential volunteers.
  • Possess exceptional oral and written communications skills, as well as computer skills
  • Have very strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and regularly adjust strategy based on giving trends.
  • Must be an independent and strategic thinker capable of understanding the full scope of projects while seeing individual tasks through to completion.
  • Must be project oriented, able to handle several tasks simultaneously, possessing an ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure while managing deadlines will.
  • Must be able to quickly adapt to a changing environment and embrace change as a new challenge to perform with excellence, taking on a sense of ownership in all tasks performed.
  • Experience in and commitment to a team approach within the department, division and throughout the University.
  • Must have excellent computer skills related to the use of MS Word, Excel, and have direct experience with Banner.

Required Experience

A minimum of five (5) years experience in progressively successful experience in annual giving

Required Education

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, communications or related fields.

Additional Information

  • Ability to sit at desk for extended periods. Able to assist at BU functions
  • This is 1 FTE, 12 months per year job.
  • Must have flexible schedule and be able to work some evening or weekends for work related functions
